London-based electronic duo SKIES (Andres and Hemal) dropped their first demo track a few weeks ago. The demo, ‘Xlur (Maenon)‘, is a mightily impressive blend of smooth downtempo electronica with a heavily percussive backdrop. ‘Ethnicity‘ is the superb first track from the forthcoming beat-driven EP by Perth-based Catlips. The project of talented Australian producer/composer/musician Katie Campbell, this new track displays her brilliantly diverse musical ability. With previous Catlips material, the songs were more vocal-led electronic pop. With, ‘Ethnicity‘, we are treated to a slick, beat-driven and sample-based gem. Keep a lookout for the new EP. Sydney’s Jake Antoun aka Silica Cove just released the final track from his impressive debut self-titled EP. The three-track EP, which includes a soothing Barry White sample, is a nice blend of swirly soundscapes and smooth downtempo beats. Make sure you grab the Silica Cove EP here. LA-based musician Caves (Luka Cage) just dropped his superb sophomore EP, ‘When You Were Partying, I Was Dying‘, via the excellent digital label Absent Fever. The new four-track EP is a seriously impressive follow-up to last years incredible debut Adolescent Dystopia EP. Bandung, Indonesia-based electronic duo Midnight Runners just released their insanely good debut Overdive EP. The talented duo blend grooved-out disco funk and slick instrumental hip hop brilliantly. Sydney’s Albatross just shared one of their first ever pieces of work. The vintage piece is a remix of fellow Sydney-based outfit Domeyko/Gonzalez‘s track ‘Eschatol‘. A few days ago talented electronic producer GUIDES (Colton Sparks) released his stellar debut Telephone EP. The Denver native delivered an impressive array of tracks last year and this debut EP is a solid addition to that ever-expanding array. Brisbane’s Dom Bird has been impressing of late. The talented producer has delivered one of best tracks I’ve heard in a while. So in a few weeks time Believe In Sound will reach the two-year mark. What began as a sort of platform where I could store some of my favourite songs/artists, soon after became something far more meaningful and rewarding. If in any way I helped spread the word about a new music artist/project over the last two years, I consider that meaningful and extremely rewarding. I genuinely am a man of few words, so I think I better stop this brief trip down memory lane. Here’s a little mixtape to thank you for your continued support.
