Were We Spoilt In 2009 From A Musical Standpoint?

Bon Ivers’ recent album rating from Pitchfork got me thinking, were we spoilt in 2009? 9.0+ rated albums here, there and everywhere. In truth you’re likely to encounter maybe two 9.0+ worthy albums on average per year. The next question to address is just what does it take to deliver that 9.0+ album? Who am I to say for sure. Evidence of the abundance of riches 2009 delivered below…….

Animal Collective – Merriweather Post Pavillion

Rating: 9.6

Grizzly Bear – Veckatimest

Rating: 9.0

Girls – Album

Rating: 9.1

Dirty Projectors – Bitte Orca

Rating: 9.2

Albums that deserved a 9.0+ rating in my opinion:

Phoenix – Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix

Rating: 8.5

Sunset Rubdown – Dragonslayer

Rating: 8.3

The Antlers – Hospice

Rating: 8.5

2009 was a good year.
