The highly impressive Naminé returns with another outstanding piece of work. Under the moniker Naminé, Darcy Baylis has been delivering high calibre tracks for a few years now. ‘Celestia’ is the first taste of the Melbourne artist’s forthcoming Celestial Love LP. The track is centred on Baylis’ own pure, emotive vocals while a wash of ethereal synth sounds find their place perfectly. ‘Celestia’ is available for free via Bossman Records.

Someone Else

I suppose it’s fitting that the first post after the three-year milestone here at BIS is about an electronic act from Australia. Australia is home to many of my favourite acts to emerge over the three-year existence of this blog. Pools is the newest act to crop up on my radar. Pools is the work of two talented seventeen year-olds from Ballarat, Australia. Their debut Onset EP is set for release soon and the first track from it, ‘Maddi’, can be heard over on the cloud where you’ll find the rest of Pools’ highly impressive work. Stream the sensual, slow-motion dance gem ‘Someone Else’ below, download here.

Melbourne resident Alex Clayton operates under the name Thames and has delivered some high calibre tracks in the last few months or so. The most recent of which, is the slow motion dance opus ‘One’. The track opens with some soothing guitar sounds before those soft clicks and snaps cement their place in this rich, textural gem. ‘One’ is available here and is the first taste of Thames’ forthcoming debut Distance EP. Definitely one to watch this year, follow this man on the cloud.

In Mind

I’ve been meaning to get this beauty on the blog for a while. Naysayer & Gilsun is the work of Melbourne residents Sam Gill and Luke Neher. For their new single, ‘In Mind’, the duo have teamed up with I’lls frontman Simon Lam. The track builds nicely around Lam’s stellar vocals, while the breathing synths, pitch-shifted vocal sounds and minimal elements allow the track to evolve into something all too irresistible. This is the first taste of Naysayer & Gilsun’s new EP, which is set to be released early next year via Bossman Records. Check out the Gaspard Noé-inspired video for ‘In Mindhere. Free download here.

The North

Just Pascoe is the solo work of Melbourne resident Aaron Briggs. The nineteen year-old musician has only been producing for six months, which is hard to believe given the sheer quality and maturity of his track ‘The North’. The delicate vocal manipulations, layered synths and rolling drums give rise to the track’s mellow vibe and irresistible appeal. Free download of ‘The Northhere.

Colours’ by safeinhouses is yet another gentle reminder of the feel-good factor that accompanies electronic music. After a number of listens, I found myself recalling the chillwave/glo-fi movement that lit up the summer of 2009. ‘Colours’ is brimming with pitch-shifted vocals, hazy reverb, and glorious synth work. safeinhouses is the project of Melbourne resident Ryan Morris. Free download of ‘Colourshere.
